What the Cast of True Blood Is Doing Today?

Once upon a swampy Louisiana night, HBO blessed us with True Blood—a sexy, bloody, occasionally absurd vampire drama that somehow balanced politics, fairy lore, and shirtless werewolves. It’s been nearly a decade since the series wrapped up in 2014, but let’s face it, we’re still not over Bon Temps.

So where are your favorite supernatural hotties now? Did they find eternal happiness, or at least a good agent? Here’s what the True Blood cast has been up to—and yes, we did the digging so you don’t have to (no grave robbing required).

Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse)

Ah, Sookie. Our psychic waitress queen. After hanging up her Merlotte’s apron, Anna Paquin stayed busy juggling indie flicks and prestige dramas. She starred in Netflix’s Alias Grace, the Canadian mystery Bellevue, and voiced a dino mom in Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur. She also made waves in The Irishman as Robert De Niro’s steely silent daughter.
Most recently, she starred in Netflix’s True Spirit (2023), proving she still knows how to lead a heart-tugging drama. And yes, she’s still married to her onscreen vamp husband Stephen Moyer—and raising twins away from the paparazzi. Respect.

Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton)

Bill may have been brooding and complicated (and let’s be real, sometimes the worst), but Stephen Moyer? A total workhorse. After True Blood, he starred in Marvel’s The Gifted, the miniseries Safe House, and the After film franchise as Christian Vance.
He also flexed his producer muscles and directed episodes of Flack, starring his wife, Anna Paquin. Moyer has been candid about his sobriety journey and continues to advocate for addiction recovery. Still no word on whether he prefers TrueBlood or O-negative.

Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman)

Everyone’s favorite tall Viking vampire has had the glow-up of a century. Alexander Skarsgård has been dominating Hollywood with meaty roles: Emmy-winning creep Perry in Big Little Lies, a scene-stealing tech exec in Succession, and the titular, ultra-ripped Legend of Tarzan.
In 2023 alone, he wrapped up Succession, starred in Infinity Pool, and made his directorial debut with The Pack, featuring Florence Pugh. Oh, and he became a dad. Looks like Eric Northman finally settled down… kinda.

Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte)

Shifter Sam was always the low-key MVP of Bon Temps, and Sam Trammell’s been just as reliable in his post-True Blood career. He popped up in This Is Us, The Fault in Our Stars, and Homeland, and he appeared in the sci-fi romance ReEntry.
Behind the camera, he’s co-written and produced indie projects like All Mistakes Buried. He’s also a dad of twin boys with longtime partner Missy Yager—no word on whether they’ve inherited any animal-morphing abilities.

Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam Swynford De Beaufort)

The eyeliner. The snark. The power suits. Kristin Bauer’s Pam was a fashion icon and eternal mood. Since her role in True Blood, Bauer has embraced her villainous side by playing Maleficent in Once Upon a Time and making appearances in shows like Sacred Lies and Paradise Cove.
In true fandom-pleasing fashion, she teamed up with Deborah Ann Woll to co-host the Truest Blood podcast—a glorious rewatch show for die-hard fans. Offscreen, she’s an animal rights advocate and married to South African musician Abri van Straten. Pam would approve.

Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse)

Jason may have been, let’s say, not the sharpest fang in the set, but Ryan Kwanten’s post-True Blood roles have shown off his darker, edgier side. He’s starred in thrillers like Glorious (2022), the creepy Them, and the FX horror anthology The Bite.
In 2022–2023, he led the series Kindred, based on Octavia E. Butler’s iconic sci-fi novel, and continues to work on film projects like Devil Inside. He’s also a low-key producer now—turns out there’s more going on behind those abs than we thought.

Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton)

Rutina Wesley brought fire, trauma, and fierce loyalty to Tara. Since her True Blood days, she’s absolutely dominated the screen. She starred as Nova Bordelon in Queen Sugar, which ran for seven critically acclaimed seasons.
In 2023, she joined The Last of Us as Maria, adding post-apocalyptic resilience to her resume. She’s also done stints on Hannibal and The Walking Dead. She keeps her love life private these days, but in her career, she is a total force.

Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux)

The werewolf thirst trap. The man, the myth, the abs. Joe Manganiello went from Alcide to Magic Mike’s Richie and never looked back. He voiced Deathstroke in the Justice League Snyder Cut, showed up in The Big Bang Theory as himself (naturally), and co-starred in 2023’s The Kill Room.
He’s also a massive Dungeons & Dragons nerd and is currently directing a D&D documentary. Sadly, he and Sofia Vergara announced their separation in 2023—but he remains a favorite of genre fans everywhere.

Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds)

Lafayette was the breakout character nobody expected—sassy, soulful, and scene-stealing in every way. Tragically, actor Nelsan Ellis passed away in 2017 from complications related to alcohol withdrawal.
Before his death, Ellis appeared in Elementary, The Help, and directed his own documentary, Damn Wonderful. His legacy lives on, not only in True Blood but in the hearts of fans who still quote his iconic one-liners. Rest in power, king.

Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler)

Arlene was the no-nonsense, redheaded waitress we all underestimated—just like Carrie Preston. Following her success in True Blood, Arlene showcased her quirky brilliance on The Good Wife, where she earned an Emmy, and later on Claws, where she absolutely stole the show.
In 2023, she began working on Elsbeth, a CBS spinoff based on her Good Wife character. She’s married to fellow actor Michael Emerson (Lost, Person of Interest) and still turns every role into a masterclass.

Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur)

Andy Bellefleur went from bumbling cop to surprisingly decent dad of four fairy kids. Chris Bauer, meanwhile, has had one of the steadiest careers of the bunch. He’s appeared in The Deuce, For All Mankind, and currently stars in Heels, the Starz wrestling drama, as Wild Bill Hancock.
He’s also guest-starred on everything from Brooklyn Nine-Nine to Modern Family. Honestly, if there’s a gritty dad role going, Chris Bauer probably already booked it.

Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby)

Jessica was the baby vamp with a conscience and some of the show’s best growth. Deborah Ann Woll ran with it—quite literally—as Karen Page in Daredevil and the Defenders Netflix universe. She also appeared in the Escape Room films and lent her voice to video game characters.
A proud gamer and D&D nerd, she’s co-hosted podcasts, streamed campaigns, and even starred in Relics and Rarities. She’s married to E.J. Scott, and they advocate for choroideremia awareness. Bloodthirsty on screen, compassionate off it.

Jim Parrack (Hoyt Fortenberry)

Sweet, awkward Hoyt had one of True Blood’s most heartfelt arcs. Jim Parrack continued flexing his Southern charm with roles in Suicide Squad, The Deuce, and 9-1-1: Lone Star, where he’s played firefighter Judd Ryder since 2020.
He’s also a producer and runs his own company, 120 Productions. Currently dating ballet dancer Hayley Walters, he’s living his best low-key life, far from Bon Temps’ chaos.

Evan Rachel Wood (Queen Sophie-Anne Leclerq)

Evan Rachel Wood was only a guest star, but her vamp queen left a lasting impression. Since then, she’s become an awards darling in Westworld, voiced Queen Iduna in Frozen II, and starred in Kajillionaire, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and more.
She also wrote, directed, and starred in the short film Queen. Off-screen, Wood has been a powerful voice for survivors of abuse, testifying before Congress and leading advocacy work. She’s fierce, fearless, and still reigns supreme.
